Travel Postcard Design
Adobe Photoshop Project
For this project, I created a travel postcard using Adobe Photoshop, featuring a destination of my choice. I sourced royalty-free images from approved stock sites and integrated them with the World Travel logo, applying appropriate typography and color choices to reflect the destination's tone and appeal.
Key skills demonstrated include:
Image selection and preparation
Visual composition and layout
Typography integration
Use of Photoshop tools for print-ready design
The final design effectively communicates the travel experience through cohesive visuals and messaging.
Color Theory & Image Editing
Adobe Photoshop Project
In this project, I applied foundational Photoshop skills and explored color theory through image manipulation and palette creation.
Part One:
Imported and cropped a grayscale image to focus on the bicycle
Resized the image to 625 x 875 pixels (5" x 7") at 125+ PPI
Saved the edited image as a high-quality JPEG
Part Two:
Created and applied three industry-standard color palettes to the grayscale image:
Monochromatic (five hues from one base color)
Analogous (five adjacent hues on the color wheel)
Complementary (contrasting colors from opposite sides of the wheel)
Displayed each palette with corresponding swatches above or below the image
Saved each version as a separate JPEG
This project demonstrates my ability to perform essential Photoshop tasks and apply color theory in a visually engaging, technically accurate way.
Poster Redesign and Evaluation
Visual Analysis and Enhancement Using Adobe Illustrator
In this project, I revisited and reevaluated a poster I previously analyzed in an earlier module. With expanded knowledge in design principles and software tools, I performed a detailed critique and implemented strategic enhancements to elevate the overall effectiveness of the poster.
Part One: Evaluation
Using industry terminology and design analysis methods, I assessed how well the original poster used:
Imagery – Evaluated how the main visual supported the poster’s message and whether it enhanced clarity and impact.
Design Elements – Analyzed the use of line, space, color, and typography for visual consistency and communication strength.
Design Principles – Evaluated application of emphasis, balance, alignment, contrast, hierarchy, scale, and proximity to determine how well the content was organized and visually engaging.
Part Two: Enhancement
I used Adobe Illustrator to enhance the design by modifying or replacing visual elements and improving overall layout and readability. Key updates included:
Replacing or adjusting imagery to better align with the message
Refining typography for improved hierarchy and legibility
Adjusting layout for stronger alignment, proximity, and balance
Applying consistent use of color and contrast to emphasize key information
The final version was saved and submitted as a high-quality PDF, showcasing my ability to both critically evaluate and revise design work based on foundational design principles and technical skills.
Poster Critique and Feedback Presentation
Color and Typography Evaluation
For this project, I reviewed a provided poster and its accompanying design brief, offering a professional critique focused on color and typography. Using industry terminology and visual communication principles learned throughout the course, I presented my feedback in a video format using Bongo, with screen-sharing to reference specific parts of the design.
Key areas addressed in my critique:
Color Usage
I evaluated how effectively the color palette communicated the poster’s message and whether it aligned with the design brief. I discussed whether the chosen hues supported emotional tone and brand intent, and suggested improvements to enhance clarity and visual appeal.Typography
I assessed the legibility, readability, and emotional impact of the current typefaces. I examined how well the typography conveyed the intended message and suggested adjustments to improve hierarchy and consistency while staying within the brief’s parameters.Constructive Feedback
I provided clear, actionable suggestions for both color and typography improvements to strengthen the poster’s overall communication and design impact.
Deliverables included a recorded Bongo video presentation, demonstrating my ability to analyze and articulate design decisions using proper terminology and visual critique techniques.
Design Software Overview Posters
Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign Informational Posters
As part of a milestone project, I created a coordinated series of three informational posters—each focused on a different Adobe Creative Cloud software: Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign. The posters were designed using Adobe InDesign with supporting graphic elements created in Photoshop and Illustrator.
Each poster clearly presents:
The primary purpose and uses of the software
Appropriate file formats associated with each program
Visual elements integrated with concise, informative text
A layout that follows core design principles such as hierarchy, alignment, contrast, and proximity
All content and imagery were original and based on feedback from earlier coursework. The final deliverables include native InDesign (.indd) files and print-ready PDF versions, saved and organized within a structured OneDrive folder system for submission.
